Terms and Conditions

Feel free to browse our site, even if you do not want to buy.

We endeavor to state clearly on this page our methods and terms of business but nothing stated here or elsewhere on our site affects your statutory rights.

Orders

Although we value you as a personal customer, we do not ask you to register with us, and each order is treated as a one time transaction.  However, if you would like to email us with your comments or suggestions then we will welcome that.  Please see our help page about the ordering mechanism and what happens after you place an order.

Orders will normally be processed within two working days of you completing the checkout information.

Prices

All prices shown in the online catalogue and shopping area are in UK Pounds (£).  Prices include delivery to a UK mainland address.  We are not VAT registered and so VAT is not charged.

Payment

Payment for online orders is in UK Pounds (£).  The checkout process is performed on a secure server belonging to PayPal (Europe) Ltd.  PayPal accepts payment by credit or debit card from all major UK cards.

Delivery

The quoted prices are for UK mainland delivery only and use a standard 3 day carrier service.  If you require delivery outside the UK mainland then please email us with your request and we will deal with your enquiry.   Please be aware of any of your local rules relating to some of the military or military style products we sell.  We will not export any goods that are on UK Export Control Lists, or export any goods that we are not allowed to export to your country.  If we do export, we are not liable to any further charges levied by customs or other similar organisations.

Please note that we reserve the right not to deliver to a Delivery Address that is different to the Cardholder Address, in which case we will consult with you at the email address you supply, and will refund any money paid if we do not resolve any concerns we might have.

Returns

Our fault

If you need to return goods because of our mistake then please contact us and we will arrange collection or advise you of the return method.  You will be refunded the full purchase price of the goods and any postage charges that you may have to pay, provided those charges have our prior approval.  New goods that are faulty will qualify for these refunds but please be aware that used clothing or equipment may have normal wear and tear problems and repairs may have been carried out on these items.

Your decision

If you decide to return the goods for other reasons, maybe because you have changed your mind or you have ordered the wrong size, then you must inform us of your decision within seven days of receiving the goods and we will refund the full purchase price within thirty days of receiving your notice, provided that you return the goods to us within twenty one days of originally receiving them.  You must keep such goods in your possession from the time you originally receive them to the time you return them to us.  You must have taken reasonable care of the goods while in your possession.  If you wish, we will arrange collection of the goods provided that you give us reasonable opportunity to do so from the original delivery address, or another mutually agreeable address, within the timescales outlined.  Under such circumstances, the full cost of recovery will be deducted from the refund price.

Cancellations

If you have placed an order but decide to cancel before you receive the goods then please contact us as soon as possible - preferably by both telephone and email.

If you inform us before we dispatch then we will carry out a card refund for the full price.  If we have already dispatched then the returns policy outlined above will come into force and you will be responsible for paying for returning the goods.

Sizes

We have both new and used clothing from various countries and military groups.  As a result the sizes are not always stated in familiar high street terminology.  We therefore measure the size of each article and try to describe those measurements in the individual "Details" area that accompanies each item in our online catalogue.  Please read these descriptions before you order to ensure that you understand the size of the garment you will receive.  Please bear in mind that our military trousers are normally designed for men, and this often means that a "correct" waist size for a lady is too small for the hips!  If you have any questions then do not hesitate to email or telephone us.

If we do not show your size on our drop down options list, but the size is shown in the "Details", then check back later as we only show sizes that we currently have in stock

Knives

Under the Offensive Weapons Act 1996 we cannot sell knives to anyone under the age of sixteen.  In order to ensure compliance, we will only deliver knives to the same name and address as the cardholder.

Complaints

If you have a complaint then please telephone, email or write.  We will acknowledge all complaints as soon as possible and always within five working days.  We endeavour to deal with them as speedily as possible and will inform customers regularly about progress.  We do not wish to loose either your custom or our reputation, and so will deal with all complaints in a fair, efficient and confidential manner.

Privacy and Security

Information we collect and why:

• PayPal (Europe) Ltd, on our behalf, collects your name, the cardholder name and address and the delivery name and address through the ordering process, so we can process your order.

• We collect your email address through the ordering process so we can acknowledge your order and generally communicate with you about your order.  We might email you with details of other offers or lines but will stop if you ask us to.

• If you email us with an enquiry we will generally keep that email for a reasonable amount of time.

• We collect information about your internet browser to help us form our website to suit our regular visitors.

• We do not pass on information to any other party.

• We do not collect your card details.  These are retained by PayPal (Europe) Ltd, who handles the authorisation details on our behalf.

There are two distinct web sites involved in any transaction with Snowden's of Haworth: our own, www.snowdensofhaworth.co.uk, which is not a secure site, and the secure PayPal site which processes the card transactions

Our main site, www.snowdensofhaworth.co.uk is our own site and relatively simple.  We have a small facility that we use to collect some information about your internet browser, screen format and colour depth, which we use to help us form our pages to suit our most common users.  The facility also leaves a cookie on your computer which we use to help us determine the popularity of our website.  We do not collect anything else from you unless you want to place an order.  We only give you information on demand.  If you want to place an order, you must of course first tell us what you want.   We then pass control to PayPal.  No information is stored on our site.

If you decide to purchase online (we hope you do!), we also use cookies on your computer to transfer your items to the shopping basket as you go along.  However, these cookies are used for your current session only and they only contain details of your potential order.  We do not store these cookies on your computer after your session is finished, or access them later.  The site also makes extensive use of Javascript .  The shopping system and other site features will not function correctly if Javascript is not enabled on your computer.

If, after filling your basket, you really do decide to purchase (we really hope you do!) then we use the good services of PayPal as an intermediary for the secure card transaction.  We transfer the contents of your basket and hand control over to the secure PayPal server.  PayPal will ask for cardholder and card details as well as delivery information.  The credit or debit card transaction is performed by PayPal.  PayPal will inform us if your payment has been confirmed and will pass on your order, name and addresses.  PayPal will not pass onto us your credit or debit card details.

Without doubt, we will never pass on any of your details to any other party.  We might use your email address to inform you of any special offers or lines that we have.  If we do email you and you do not want to receive any further emails from us, then simply reply to our first or subsequent email stating so, and we will not email you again.  We are always here at www.snowdensofhaworth.co.uk if you want to call again!
